starting off with...

Triumph's Speed Twin has huge potential in terms of customizing. A blank canvas, neutral, not too classic, not too modern, just perfect for adding tons of character in whichever direction. A modern retro Cafe Racer is what struck us as the most fitting character, without being as expensive, extreme and ergonomically compromised as a Thruxton.

...the Design

"Before we even started the build, we had series production in mind. Therefore we straight away designed and engineered everything for a variety of possible manufacturing techniques, so we wouldn’t be limited later."

The stock Speed Twin has a tendency to “look up in the air”, so our front fairing has a deliberate shark nose and paired with a lowered headlight and instruments lends the bike a road focused and aggressive look.

The monoposto tail section with its wing design covers the not very aesthetic top ends of the standard suspension components and they simply look cool and unique.

The belly pan has a big air inlet for optimum airflow to the cat and additional slots to get air to the cooler hose while optically lowering the center of gravity of the bike.

more than show

A full 3D scan of the bike allowed us to run a virtual design, modelling and engineering process in collaboration with our partner Muniq Design.

It took about 6 months from an idea to a rideable bike with 3D printed front fairing, tail and belly pan.

In collaboration with Touratech we took a set of their Black T suspension components and fine tuned them in all conditions, even on the racetrack.

Short aggressive exhaust silencers with slanted cut end tips and up swept headers are fully custom by Hattech.

The monoposto seat got upholstered in black leatherette, is partly perforated and rounded off with black stitching.

"Rennstall’s kit is both cohesive and aesthetically pleasing, and it’s got us pondering how we’d set it up, given the opportunity."
